  • Starting a team refers to offering the program to a group of 6-15 participants at a new location or site near you. This team will be part of Girls on the Run Vermont's Spring 2025 season.
  • First, check to see if there is an existing team at your desired location in your community.
  • Designate a Site Liaison to serve as your location's main contact (see the responsibilities of a site champion below).
  • Review the Start-a-Team Packet which has information about our program and what it takes to start a team at your desired location.
  • Complete a Site/Team Application.
  • Recruit three to four volunteer coaches, who will complete GOTRVT's Coach Training and commit to the responsibilities of a Girls on the Run (grades 3 - 5) or Heart & Sole (grades 6 - 8) coach.
  • Ensure that at least two coaches submit their Coach Registrations (opening November 6, 2024) in tandem with the Site Application.
  • The location must provide a safe, dedicated outdoor and/or indoor space, where the program can be facilitated to the team at the dates/times determined for the season.
  • Teams must consist of 6 - 15 participants.
  • Secure approval from location administrators, such as a school principal or director of the community center.

Site Liaison Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main contact at the site for Girls on the Run Vemont families/participants and Girls on the Run council staff before and throughout the program.
  • Aids in team member recruitment efforts by digitally posting and/or distributing marketing materials (provided by Girls on the Run Vermont) and spreading the word about Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole throughout the site community. This helps ensure there is a full team for each season at this location.
  • Offers support to families who need assistance with registration.
  • Helps identify two to four coaches from the community for each team*.

*If you cannot secure coaches on your own, we will work with you to promote the coaching opportunity as well.
