Title of Position: 5K Intern
Reports to: 5K & Event Director, Executive Director
Location: Williston, VT
Hours: 10 hours per week minimum from February through June 15th, with the possibility of extending into the Summer and/or Fall semester
Girls on the Run Vermont is currently seeking an intern to support and advance its mission, goals, and objectives by supporting the events department.
General Position Summary:
Our spring 2024 intern will be involved in the coordination and execution of GOTR’s spring 5K events. The position will involve collaboration across all departments of the organization to ensure 5K objectives are met including those related to event logistics, programming, development and sponsorships, and administrative tasks. The intern will be expected to work independently on some projects and will work collaboratively with all organization staff in order to complete projects in a timely manner and execute successful, safe events.
Must be dynamic, spirited, and passionate about the value of youth development and wellness. An interest in event planning and a knack for logistics is a plus. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of Girls on the Run, our programs, and non-profit event planning.
Key Areas of Responsibility

Complete administrative tasks in support of the Events department

Manage general email account for event related inquiries and in particular, volunteer-related communications

Help manage 5K and volunteer registration database

Maintain inventory and collate items needed for GOTR 5K events

Other tasks as outlined by the Event Director

Assist with 5K volunteer coordination, outreach, and day-of management

Provide logistical and administrative support for both 5K events

Qualifications:

Prior administrative and/or event planning experience is a plus

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to efficiently navigate and utilize non-profit organizational software (Pinwheel)

Knowledge of youth development and physical activity programs is preferred

Strong organizational and interpersonal communications skills

Ability to work independently and navigate obstacles as they arise

Ability to stand for long periods and lift 30 lbs helpful but not required
